Abstract:

Objective. Theoretical analysis of the main structural and functional components of motivational process in sport.
Methods. Analysis and synthesis of scientific and methodological literature, and data from global network Internet.
Results. Purposeful formation of mobilization preparedness for competitions which are important or significant for an athlete should be based on special psychological preparation. Motivation is not confined to a single motive, it is characterized by polymotivation, which is an integrative entity. Modern sports psychology usually determines at least three to four main motivating factors that form the core of motivation where motives are closely interlinked.
Conclusion. Motivation is a psychological process which combines two qualitative values: motive that causally determines specificity, objectification, purposeful action, and competence as the willingness of an individual to act in a certain direction by making sufficient efforts for the required time.
