The International Handball Federation has significantly changed the handball rules over the last 10–15 years that has led to structural changes in all types of handball training. This caused a problematic situation when the number of new techniques of play has increased sharply, on the one hand, and the fundamentals of the theory and methodology of handball have lost their relevance, on the other hand.
Objective. On the basis of the analysis and generalization of scientific literature, to prove the need for updating the theoretical and methodological data on feint technique.
Methods. Analysis and synthesis of data from scientific and methodological literature.
Results. The results obtained in the course of research study are presented in the form of original classification of feint techniques, which includes 102 movements, as well as additional data that reveal their structure and content. When developing the classification of feint as an element of handball technique, an innovative approach was used to classifying technical actions based on the following characteristics: method of performance, variant, and type. Much of the article is devoted to the study of the general sequence of training feint techniques, taking into account the age handball players, as well as to the methodology of teaching the technique of individual movements, which attack players perform to free themselves from a defender.
Conclusion. The article presents the analysis of scientific and methodological literature on handball, which substantiates the need for updating the theoretical and methodological data on feint techniques. The practical application of the results obtained in this study and presented here will improve the quality of the educational and training process aimed at improving the technical skills of handball players of all ages.
