Abstract:
In the public mind, sport almost universally perceived as an independent and self-sufficient sphere of life of the modern society. In addition, it ranks among other social phenomena alongside such important ones as culture and education. The meaning of this concept is so deeply ingrained in the public consciousness that it is adequately understood in modern society and in fact needs no definitions as the notion of culture. As a result a paradoxical situation has arisen: the most socialized contemporary phenomena, culture and sports, do not have universally accepted definitions, and this reveals their ontological affinity.
