Abstract:
Objective. To analyze the state of psychological control and correction of athletes’ mental state in the course of preparation for the Olympic Games.
Methods. Analysis of data of current scientific and scientific-methodical literature, experience of work of sports psychologists, Internet.
Results. Data on principles of psychological follow-up of the Olympic Game participants, modern approaches to study of psychological factors, determining efficiency of athlete activity, have been presented. It has been demonstrated that topical directions of athlete preparation psychological follow-up are the long-term, well-planned activity aimed at the development of psychological resources of competitiveness and reduction of the risk of psychological breakdowns during competitions.
Conclusion. Psychological follow-up planning should be based on principles of individualization, account for sports event specifics as well as the impact of versatile environmental factors both related and nonrelated to sports activity.
